My Friday Review: Kin

Title: Kin: Annabelle's Story Part Two
Author: Leigh Michael
My Rating: 4 conch
Buy At: Amazon,Barnes and Noble

Summary from Goodreads:
The conclusion to Sprite (Annabelle's Story Part One).

In Kin, Annabelle's struggles don't ease one bit. She's continually put to the test, both physically and emotionally. With help from Adrian, Natasha, Clemente, Shamus and some surprise additions, Annabelle trudges forward toward retrieving Triton's lost shell and fulfilling the ABA prophecy.

The Review: I immediately started Kin after Sprite (Book One), particularly because of how Sprite left off with a pretty big revelation. Leigh sucked me in from the beginning and I enjoyed seeing the relationship develop between Annabelle and Adrian. Although his affection for her started a long time ago, I believed the process she went through in dealing with a past love and a new one. There was one battle after another, and that worked for me. Some characters died, while others prevailed, all while Annabelle learned how to accept her fate - a perfect recipe. Leigh did a fantastic job with this series and I look forward to reading more of her work.

The Good: Fast paced, lots of action, and growth of the MC.

The Issue: There were a few instances throughout where I had POV issues, particularly in some of the character's back story. This is also the last book but Kin had an almost-cliffhanger ending, and that surprised me. However, I do know that this lingering question is answered in a follow up short story included in Furthermore, so I can live with it.

The Rating: 4 conch. Fans of magical mythology will truly enjoy this book and the series.
