My Utopya 2014 Blog Hop & Giveaway

I'm excited to be a part of Carlyle Labuschagne's My Utopia 2014 Blog Hop and Giveaway today! I attended this conference for the first time in June, and have already made plans to be there next year. It was so fantastic getting to meet the authors I've only know online. So many of them were such great people...and I'm grateful that we had a chance to meet in person.

So, in order to relay my experience and discuss what I learned at UtopYA, I've made a top five list:

Top Five Greatest Things About UtopYA 2014

1. Bloggers rock!

My roommate for the weekend (Morgan from Seeing Double in Neverland) was for sure the life of the party. Her non-stop energy amazed me and her true love of books inspired me. She was my cheerleader for the weekend, and as an author, I can't even express how encouraging it is to have someone be such a fan and giant supporter. I love bloggers and I've never been to a conference before where I had a chance to meet so many. (And sorry Morgan, I can't make a "sexy face" like you!)

2. I'd be a weird looking alien.

Thanks to the ridiculously nice Amy Evans, I became an alien for the weekend. Not sure if it's a good look for me or not...

3. I made some new friends!
I had a chance to meet authors I've only talked to online, but I also had the opportunity to meet some new ones. I have to give a shout out to Amy Evans, Tracy Banghart, and Krystal Wade for our awesome lunch together and follow-up conversations over the past few months. It's really great when you meet people you instantly click with (ha! no pun intended Amy Evans) and I'm sure that these ladies will be in my life for many years to come!

And I'd be remiss if I didn't thank Brenda Pandos for all of her wonderfulness. I've been a fan for a long time and it was really great finally getting to meet her! She's always helped me out as a fellow author and I hope that we'll get a chance to hangout (swim in the ocean) again together soon!

4. I had my first author table and signing.

I've never done a signing before because I've always had this fear that no one would show up. But when 100 (or so) other authors are there by your side...it sure helps put the nerves at ease. So UtopYA 2014 made me jump past those fears by having an exhibit table and being a part of the Friday night signing. Plus my table mate, Nichole Greene, made the evening even that much better!

5. I think I need to write about alien mermaids.

Okay, maybe not. But I do love my alien mermaid logo and feel like I should find a way to keep using it!

So UtopYA 2014 was a success for me and my author career. So many wonderful people, authors mixing with bloggers, self-published mixing with traditionally published, and everyone offering advice...it was just fantastic!

And now that you've endured my babbling, you can see all of the giveaways we're offering as part of this blog hop!
