The Next Big Thing

I've been tagged by Rebekah Campbell at Reflections of a Bookworm to answer a few questions about my next work in progress. Perfect timing, I might add, that my WIP will be released November 5th! So thanks, Rebekah!!

What is the working title of your next book?
Touching Evil. It is the first book of The Leila Marx Novels.

Where did the idea come from?
I often get a vision/idea/thought of the opening scene, and that is exactly how this book started. Leila is a touch claryvoyant who wasn't able to stop her fiance's murder, and she has to learn to cope and forgive herself. In doing so, she meets a whole group of...shall we say interesting individuals...who open her eyes in numerous ways.

What genre does your book fall under?
It is an urban fantasy - supernaturals mixed in today's world and unbeknownst to most. My favorite! Both YA and adult readers will enjoy this one.

What actors would you chose to play the part of yoru characters in a movie redition?
Hmmm...I may need to think about this some more. Sorry for this answer, but I'll get back to you!

What is the one sentence synopsis of your book?
Touch clairvoyant, Leila Marx, is trying to overcome a personal tragedy while discovering that she is not the only supernaturally gifted one out there.

Will your book be self published or represented by an agency?
Self published. I'm enjoying the indie author lifestyle and despite considering otherwise for a while, I think this will be the plan from now on.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of the manuscript?
I started it in either December or January (last year) and finished it by March 2011. So not too long! But then the mermaids started speaking to me...

What other books would you compare this story to within the same genre?
I think fans of Kelley Armstrong's Otherworld series and Kim Harrison's The Hollows will enjoy Leila's world and the characters in it.

Who or what inspired you to write this book?
This was my first full novel, after completing several short stories. I shared a few chapters with my very first critique group and was inspired by their response. I quickly finsihed the book after that and haven't stopped writing since! Even my husband read and critiqued this one (and he never reads!).

What else about your book might pique the readers' interest?
You can check out the trailer below and stayed tuned because I will be introducing some of the characters in the weeks building up to the November 5th release.

Thanks again for tagging me Rebekah, and now I'm going to tag the lovely Leigh Michael and the magnificant Marisette Burgess! You'll be very happy to hear about their upcoming project(s).

If you're interested in receiving an electronic copy of Touching Evil for review, please send me an email. :)

And just for show...here's is the Touching Evil proof awaiting my anxious review:
